It looks like Drew Goddard (“The Cabin in the Woods”) is going to be one of the busiest guys in Hollywood. Not only is he set to write and executive produce the new Netflix bound television show “Daredevil” in the coming year but he’s also just been announced as the writer and director of the new “Sinister Six” film.
We recently announced that Sony Pictures was looking to release a Spider-Man film every year and “Sinister Six” is just the start of that plan. The film will likely follow a group of super-villains that has menaced Spider-Man that originally included Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, The Vulture, Sandman, and Mysterio. It appears “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will begin to introduce many of these characters to form a roster that includes the Lizard, Rhino, Electro, Doctor Octopus, and the Green Goblin.
Sony is attempting to create a universe of films that operate like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but how they will create an interesting film out of a group of bad guys is anyone’s guess. I’m certainly interested considering I adored Drew Goddard’s “The Cabin in the Woods” and named it my favorite film of that year.
