The end of Spider-Gwen #5 announced in its letters column that it would be the last issue of the series, prompting fans to wonder what would happen to the character after the conclusion of Secret Wars. The character was prominently featured in the artwork announcement for Marvel’s All-New All-Different relaunch but would that mean that she would be joining the regular Marvel universe or staying in her universe, also known as Earth-65.

Today we’ve got a teaser image that confirms the future of Spider-Gwen and its creative team.

That’s correct folks! Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez are back in actions with a new #1 and the same old Spider-Gwen story that you were loving before it was “cancelled.” The story will reflect the results of her adventures in “Spider-Verse” and “Secret Wars” but will otherwise just continue in the direction it was already headed with Gwen and her supporting cast occupying Earth-65. In a strange way, this announcement confirms that Marvel’s larger multiverse will still exist in some form after the events that transpire in “Secret Wars”‘s Battleworld.

Over at ign.com their IGN Comics team conducted an interview with Jason Latour about the upcoming series that should be read if you are interested. We won’t print the whole thing here but there are a few notable mentions, particular regarding his next storyline:

The aim with this first couple of issues is to give folks who are new an entry point into Gwen’s world but to also fill in a little back story for people who’ve been with us awhile.

So with that in mind we begin with Gwen discovering that someone has re-created Peter Parker’s Lizard formula. This of course is a terrible realization for her, in that becoming The Lizard is what killed Peter and branded Gwen a fugitive. So as she sets out to figure out just who is behind all of this she’s torn between her chances to clear her name and the great debt of responsibility she feels toward Peter’s legacy. It’s a story that will take Gwen down memory lane a little and we’ll see just how a lot of this came to pass.

Of course there are still a lot of loose ends from “MOST WANTED?” (our first volume) and we haven’t forgotten them. Captain Stacy is still the only thing standing between Gwen and Frank Castle’s NYPD and “Matt Murderdock” is still out to, I guess you could say, “get” Spider-Woman.

[In the grand tradition of Marvel editorial notes, Spider-Gwen editor Nick Lowe also adds: HEY JASON! Don’t forget about the fact that we’re finally telling the story of Peter Parker!]

Also of note is that Spider-Gwen will be joining Marvel’s Contest of Champions video game. Some outlets are reporting that this is Gwen’s first appearance in a video game but any of you who’ve played Spider-Man Unlimited know that to be untrue. More information on that game and Spider-Gwen’s addition can also be found here at ign.com.
