Video game developer Beenox has a long history with the wallcrawler; from Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time to the official movie adaptation games – Beenox was the logo on the startup screen. But that’s all changing now, with the company moving on to bigger and better pastures with some of Activision’s biggest properties.

Beenox’s Creative developer, Tom Wilson, made a few comments about Activision’s recent change of focus – and games like Guitar Hero that will be absorbing much of the time that Spidey used to occupy.

“Eventually, as you might see in the industry, the projects, they get bigger and bigger. That was right along the time where there was a slate of projects that were what we could call mid-tier projects, a project that sits in the middle with an acceptable budget. And at the time we could almost pick and choose projects.

So eventually, as we proved our ability as a development studio, we started working on these important franchises. Because, let’s face it, there’s a lot of content to develop. We supported Vicarious’ vision and Toys for Bob on Skylanders, and now we’re working on Call of Duty, the biggest franchise for Activision. So I’m pretty happy with how it evolved.”

So what do you think? Could this mean new talent and better games in Spidey’s future? Or should Beenox stick with Spider-Man? Who do you think will take over in the future, better yet… who would you LOVE to see make a Spider-Man game?
