Hot off the heels of Sony’s Venom casting Tom Hardy as everyone’s favorite Lethal Protector, another Spider-Man spin-off had a slew of details drop via Hollywood Reporter. Perhaps as an answer to Warner Brother’s Gotham City Sirens, Sony has announced that Giana Prince-Blythewood has been attached to direct a Silver Sable/Blact Cat team-up film titled Silver and Black. Price-Blythewood is best known for her indie drama The Secret Lives of Bees and breakout film Love & Basketball. “Superior Team-Up” and “Scarlet Spider vol. 2” writer Chris Yost has penned the most recent version of the screenplay. While Black Cat was rumored to be planned for a forth Sam Raimi Spider-Man, this will be the first time Silver Sable has been set to appear on screen since her appearances on TV’s The Spectacular Spider-Man.

With an October 2018 release date there is still plenty of time for more details to drop about the film. While Sony has lent Spider-Man to Marvel Studios, Silver and Black (and Venom for that matter) will not tie in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at large. So far, the roles for Silver Sable and Black Cat have not been cast.
