Ep. 9 – Ditko Shrugged

It’s not quite the final chapter… because in this season of the All-New Amazing Spider-Talk, Dan Gvozden and Mark Ginocchio are talking about the first and greatest run of Spider-Man comics: the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko era, and we’ve still got to talk about Steve Ditko.

Yes, in this ninth episode Dan and Mark are talking about the complicated creator that is Steve Ditko. They are joined by Ditko-expert Nick Caputo and Spider-Man artist Ron Frenz to explore what made him such a legendary artist and creator, as well as a misunderstood character.

In this eighth episode they are discussing Spider-Man’s roots as a street fighting superhero, fighting low to the ground super villains and thugs, like the Crime Master. They also discuss how this has influenced the rest of the series and whether or not this interpretation of the character remains true today.
