S02 Episode 12: Goodbye, Spider-Dad

In this season of the Amazing Spider-Talk podcast, Dan Gvozden and Mark Ginocchio will talk about how Spider-Man finally made it into the BIG TIME under the creative pens of Stan Lee and John Romita Sr.

In this twelfth and final episode of Season 2, they’ll be talking about how Stan Lee’s historic run ended on Amazing Spider-Man and how the transition to new writers was handled. It’s an episode so busy we needed six arms to handle it. To help us discuss that special time period we are joined by an incredibly special guest!

Who is that special guest?

He’s a comic book writer known for his work on The Avengers and X-Men, he was the first replacement for Stan Lee on Amazing Spider-Man and as Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics: ROY THOMAS!

Plus, we’re also joined by Nick Spencer and Marc Guggenheim as they give their thoughts on Stan’s run.

Untold Talks of Spider-Man Episode 17: Marvel Team Up Annual 1 with Adam Reck

Spider-Man! The X-Men! A bunch of Hindu Gods! A… strange Russian scientist and his interpreter? Anti-Radiation Spray? A Rube Goldberg Machine of X-Men powers? Uh, this has to be MARVEL TEAM UP ANNUAL #1

Join hosts Cain Winstead, Matthew Deragisch and BATTLE OF THE ATOM podcast co-host ADAM RECK as they dive though the untouched corners and forgotten tales of the Spider-Man library on a hunt for lost gems and what it truly means to be a Spider-Man story.

In this episode of Untold Talks of Spider-Man, Cain, Matt, and Adam discuss 1976’s MARVEL TEAM UP ANNUAL #1, plotted by Bill Mantlo, Chris Claremont, and Bonnie Wilford, scripted by Bill Mantlo, drawn by Sal Buscema and Mike Esposito, colored by Hugh Paley, and lettered by Jim Novak. MTU Annual #1 is a wild ride with plenty of silver-age kooky developments with elements of the bronze age starting to poke through. A week long conference on a plane, off-the-wall problem solving, and plenty of radiation — this story has it all!

We’d like to thank ADAM RECK from coming onto the show! If you’d like to hear more from Adam, you can check out his podcast BATTLE OF THE ATOM as well as his X-Men webcomic BISH & JUBEZ.

The Green Goblin is on Air Force One, and the President wants him off his plane! Who better to stop him than… Norman Osborn?

Join hosts Cain Winstead, Matthew Deragisch as they dive though the untouched corners and forgotten tales of the Spider-Man library on a hunt for lost gems and what it truly means to be a Spider-Man story.

Untold Talks of Spider-Man Episode 15: ASM v2 18 – PPSM 18 “Death of the Goblin Construct”

The Green Goblin is on the rampage! But who is it? No body knows, including the Green Goblin!

Join hosts Cain Winstead, Matthew Deragisch as they dive though the untouched corners and forgotten tales of the Spider-Man library on a hunt for lost gems and what it truly means to be a Spider-Man story.

In this episode of Untold Talks of Spider-Man, Cain and Matt discuss AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VOLUME 2 #18″, written by Howard Mackie, penciled by John Byrne, inked by John Romita Sr., colores by Joe Rosas and lettered by Richard Starkings and Troy Peteri, as well as PETER PARKER: SPIDER-MAN #18 written again by Howard Mackie, penciled by Graham Nolan, inked by Scott Hanna, colored by Gregory Wright, and lettered by the same duo as ASM, Richard Starkings and Troy Peteri. Both titles were edited by Ralph Machhio and released in April of 2000.  “Death of the Goblin Construct” takes us back to a dangling plot thread from 1998’s “Spiderhunt,” namely “Who is the Green Goblin in Spiderhunt?” The answer is… well, you’ll just have to tune in to find out!
