Last year, Spider-Man 2099 found his way into the Marvel Universe’s modern timeline as the result of Age of Ultron.  He wound up in the Superior Spider-Man story and was sent back to save Tiberius stone, his grandfather, so that his father, Tyler Stone, and he wouldn’t cease to exist.  With him stranded in the modern timeline as Miguel O’Mara, working at Alchemax, he’s in a prime location to alter his own future as he attempts to return to his own time.  That story looks like it is going to be told in his brand new ongoing series in July, as we speculated.  O’Hara will be joined by veteran scribe Peter David, who wrote 44 of the 46 issues of the original series.  The artist on the book will be Will Sliney from Fearless Defenders.

spider-man-2099-sketchesDavid says the new series will start with someone trying to eradicate Miguel O’Hara and will continue with Miguel hunting down dealers who are selling Spider Slayers to foreign countries. David has stated that the broader story behind Spider-Man 2099 (vol. 2) is to deal with Liz Allan and Tiberius Stone, in an attempt to reform them and stop the creation of Alchemax as an evil corporation.
