Most of you have probably already listened to Superior Spider-Talk #35 and know that the show concluded with a enormous special announcement about the future of the show. Mark and I announced that episode 35 would be the final episode of Superior Spider-Talk but the beginning of something great. What is that something?
That’s right! AMAZING SPIDER-TALK is that something. With the relaunch of Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 3) on the horizon we had a discussion about the future of our show and all the new things we wanted to do with it and decided that the best direction to take it was to rebrand. Our new name reflects both of Mark and I’s sites, as if they had a baby, and our new determination moving forward. Superior might no longer be our name, but it will continue to be our mantra going forward. We plan on delivering all the content you’ve learned to love over the past year. This wasn’t a decision that we made lightly, as it has some repercussions that I will discuss in a minute, but it was a decision that we think will pay off huge for all our listeners as the show grows and develops.
The biggest reason for our change was that our host, Podomatic, would not allow us to change our feed to our own hosting location. This prevented us from uploading shows of a particular size and would have eventually limited the number of shows we could offer to you. Mark and I wanted to take control of our content so that we could begin to experiment with the format and all of the things we plan on offering you when the show relaunches.
One of the first things that we are excited about announcing is our brand-new logo! Thanks to the generous support of Ron Frenz (pencils), Sal Buscema (inks), and Ray Sumser (colors, lettering) we are able to present this wonderful piece of art to you. The piece has been in the works for quite awhile, starting with my interview with Ron at the Baltimore Comic Con. Be sure to check out Ron’s commission page to get a work of art of your own.
We also plan on bringing all kinds of new features to the show including: listener requests, subscriptions to specialized feeds, free giveaways of issues and art, topic-based discussions, and listener call-in shows.
The downside to this is that by changing feeds Podomatic has forced us to abandon all our subscribers and comments left by our listeners. This is where we need your help! If you haven’t already done so you can resubscribe to the show by clicking on this link:
Once you’ve done that, if you could leave us a review on the show, especially if you’ve left one before, it would help us to regain all the grounds and feedback we’ve lost with the change. If you leave us a comment before the first episode of our new show is released we will enter your name into a drawing for a free copy of Amazing Spider-Man: Family Business with some other amazing runner-up prizes. If you are leaving a review from an account that isn’t an USA account, please make sure to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your country and name. Who could turn down a free copy of Marvel’s newest OGN? Even if you already have it think of how great a gift it will be!
We cannot thank you enough and we hope you are excited for all our new content and the relaunch of the AMAZING SPIDER-TALK podcast! Tell all your friends, family, neighbors, and even strangers on the street or local comic shop. Be sure to subscribe so you can be the first to hear AMAZING SPIDER-TALK #1 when it launches in a couple weeks. In that episode we will be discussing Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 3) #1, Amazing Spider-Man: Family Business, Spider-News, your emails (which can be sent to our new email email@example.com) and comments, and the original reboot of the series with Howard Mackie’s Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 2) #1.
In the meantime, all of our SUPERIOR SPIDER-TALK podcasts can be found here in our archives!
