Late last night, a new trailer for the sequel to the popular “The Amazing Spider-Man” video game swung onto the internet. This time the trailer showcased the gameplay that we should expect to see on the new next-generation (PS4, Xbox One) title as well as a few hints about what the story would be about.
The first game featured the Rhino as a main villain and yet it was a very different Rhino from what it looks like we’ll be getting in the next film. This doesn’t exactly make it all that believable that these games’ stories really do tie in with what Hollywood has in mind, despite what these companies tell us. Either way, this time the game seems to feature Kraven the Hunter in a supporting role as he helps Spider-Man track down a serial killer of some sort. The trailer does seem to imply that this killer might be the same one that took Uncle Ben’s life.
The gameplay looks like fun and it also looks like this time the webs that Spider-Man shoots while swinging might actually connect to buildings or other structures, instead of just shooting off into infinity. What I’m not so optimistic about is that the gameplay looks nearly identical to the 2012 game, not to mention that even though this is a next-generation title the graphics look identical to the original and quite dated.
Either way, I’m excited to get my hands on this thing to give it a test run behind the webs.
