Hints at a New Spider-Man Series?

There have been a ton of rumors circling the net about the future of the Superior Spider-Man series after Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 3) launches this spring.  Some rumors have said the series will continue with a new creative team while others have speculated that Spider-Man 2099 will relaunch with a new series and a new #1.  Well, those rumors have an interesting new wrinkle added to them in the form of a mysterious pre-order from New York.

sp2As a former employee of Midtown Comics, I know the purchasing power that the store can wield.  There are many variant covers that are exclusive to that particular store and one of their favorite artists is J Scott Campbell, Spider-Man cover artists from JMS’s run on the book.  With the end of Superior Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man‘s relaunch approaching, the story has announced a special interconnected series of variant covers.

Here is where it gets interesting.  Everything seems normal at first; they have the cover for Superior Spider-Man #31 and Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 3) #1.  Well, that’s 2 of 3.  So what of the 3rd one?

Check out the product description: CLASSIFIED #1.

Could this be an issue the bridges the two series?  Is it a new team-up book?  Is it the new rumored Spider-Man 2099 series by Peter David and Simone Bianchi that was “broke” by Bleeding Cool at NYCC.

I’m unsure what it could be, but it does seem likely that it is a Spider-Man title because it is part of a set of 3.  What do you think it could be?
