1/14/2016 UPDATE
Merchoid has updated the listing for the Spider-Man Hoodie – and we have a LOT of new images for you!
With the hyped reveal comes news that this hoodie may not be based off the new movie design, as many fans hoped.
Merchoid had this to say about the design: “There’s been lots of talk online and people have been really excited that this could be what reveals the new look Spider-man. However, Marvel is doing a fantastic job of keeping the new Spider-man costume under wraps, so we haven’t yet seen it! What we can say is this hoodie was designed in partnership with Marvel, who provided all the design elements from their 2016 merchandise range, including the ‘messy’ webbing which we haven’t yet seen in any prior Spider-man costume. We’re really excited to see what Spider-man fans think! If this is the first look at the new costume, are you happy with the new direction?
“Whether or not this is based on the new Spider-man costume, the reaction so far has been incredible. We can’t wait to hear what people think about the final product when it releases in July.”
Makes one wonder if this hoodie is actually a hint at the new costume… or just a really good way to drum up excitement for the entire Civil War merchandise line. Regardless, the hoddie looks truly Amazing (no pun intended) and this fan can’t help but be a little happy, and eager to own, the results.
Official Press Release:
MERCHOID REVEALS NEW SPIDER-MAN HOODIE
Birmingham, UK, 14th January 2016, – Merchoid’s highly anticipated Spider-man hoodie has finally been unveiled today, which is their latest hoodie after the previously announced Civil War Captain America Hoodie. The zip-up hoodie (which is brand new for 2016) is a modern, sports style design with the iconic Spider symbol on the chest and brand new ‘messy’ webbing pattern all over.
Rumours have been circulating around the web that the new hoodie would provide the first look at Spider-man’s new Civil War costume. Merchoid’s community manager, Jessica Adams, had the following to say “There’s been lots of talk online and people have been really excited that this could be what reveals the new look Spider-man. If this is the first look at the new costume, are you happy with the new direction?”
Jessica continues “Whether or not this is based on the new Spider-man costume, the reaction so far has been incredible. We can’t wait to hear what people think about the final product when it releases in July.” The Spider-man Premium Hoodie is officially licensed from Marvel and available to pre-order now from Merchoid for £39.99/$54.99/€59,99 (all of which include free worldwide shipping) for dispatch on 29th July 2016.

For a long time it seemed like Spider-Fans were going to have to wait until next May to finally get a look at our favorite wall-crawling superhero. That notion seemed to be confirmed when multiple toy lines (including Hot Toys and Funko) revealed their toy line-ups for the Civil War movie had a distinct lack of webs.

Marvel/Disney has gone out of it’s way to keep things hush-hush about the degree of Spider-Man’s involvement in the movie, and for a long time it was really only speculation that he even was in fact in the film. Teases were dropped by Robert Downey Jr. and others but until James Gunn revealed that he had actually seen the Captain America threequel and that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man “amazing” and “off the charts awesome” his appearance was only a rumor.

After the newest concept art for the movie that was released still failed to have any sign of the other hero to don red and blue, it really looked like we weren’t going to be shown even a quick pic or snippit of video of Marvel’s take on Spidey.

riddler___tiff_mode_by_devrez-d3hu86l-247x300However, a new set of Captain America: Civil War clothing showed up on Merchoid.com a few days ago. And, low and behold, smack dab in between and “Cap/Iron Man Split-Faced T-Shirt” and a super-sick set of “Captain America: All Over Shield Print Leggings” is a big ol’… question mark. That’s right, but it’s the description of “Spider-Man Premium Hoodie Pre-Order” that’s pretty exciting, as it’s the first news of any merchandise of Spidey-related anything for Civil War!

Granted, there’s also the disclaimer that it won’t ship until July 31st, 2016, which in and of itself is a bit odd, considering the movie will have already been out for over two and a half months. But then we get to the other note from the vendor:

“Ok, so here’s the deal: we have photos of the Spider-man hoodie coming very soon. We really, REALLY want to show it to you now, but we’re not allowed to just yet. Make sure you check back on the 15th January for your very first look!”

Does this mean that this coming Friday we might finally get some idea of what Spidey might look like? While we don’t yet know exactly what the hoodie is going to have on it (will it be a new, Marvel Studios designed Spider-Man logo? Or might we actually get a glipse of what the character looks like?), if they are telling us the truth, at least we’ll be seeing something.

Tom Holland will debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War when it hits theaters on May 6th, 2016, while the new Spider-Man movie drops on July 28, 2017.
