Everyone’s favorite web-slinger is swinging back into action on Disney XD. Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man vs. the Sinister 6 (the fourth season of the show) begins with the new episode, “Hydra Attacks”, airing Sunday, February 21 at 9:00 AM Eastern.
For those not familiar with the show, be prepared for a fairly light-hearted take on the character. Marvel’s newer animated shows (Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble and Guardians of the Galaxy) are a little more kid friendly, but I suppose that’s not surprising considering it’s on a Disney channel.
In this season, Spidey seems to be hitting his stride, just coming out of the Contest of Champions on top (see the last four episodes of Season 3). He’s super-heroing career is going great, having fought along-side the Avengers and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., acting as leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy and getting along great with Aunt May (she let it out that she’s known Peter was Spidey for some time in the final episode of Season 3). Of course, the “Parker luck” is never far behind and soon enough he will have to deal with Doc Ock, Hydra, and an all-new (all-different, heh, heh) Sinister Six who have come together in an attempt to squash the Spider once and for all.
Spider-Man must assemble a special new team of Spiders (similar to what he did in episodes 9-12 of season 3 in the “Spider-Verse” arc) to counter this combined threat. This Spider-Team includes Miles Morales, Agent Venom (Flash Thompson), Iron Spider (Amadeus Cho in this universe) and the mysterious new Scarlet Spider.
