Revealed via six teasers (five of which came out for every day this week), the new promotional banner for Dead No More is truly beautiful. Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus locked in what might literally be the most fiery conflict we have seen them in before – while scores of fallen friends, old enemies, and faithful allies circle about this hellish showdown. Even dear old Uncle Ben marches forward from the flames, leading the rest of the dead in zombie-like revival. The Rhino’s berserk rampage looms over the entire affair; you might even think the troubled powerhouse is the greatest threat – but who is that getting cozy with none other than Gwen Stacy on the far right? A god of the dead in a red suit, refusing us the answer to a question on everyone’s mind… why this happening? Why do the dead live again?  Find out on Saturday, May 7th – when Marvel reveals more on Free Comic-Book Day (check your local Comic-Book stores for participating locations).

Below is the original article with updates for each individual poster as it was released. Stay tuned to Spider-Talk for future Dead No More news!

Marvel has debuted five teasers for “Dead No More” via official press release:

Submitted without any additional text, the Spider-Man banner teaser is the second of six interconnecting images – slowly uncovering a bigger and very impressive banner. So far we have Peter’s no-longer dead friends, family and Spider-Man himself. Below, you can see the first two images combined.

Dead_No_More_5Update 3: Marvel released perhaps the biggest bombshell yet with their fourth and penultimate “Dead No More” image, the actual Gwen Stacy is coming back from the dead. Or is she? Not only that, but she’s being joined by what we believe to be the Man in Red, who seems to be wearing a dog-like mask. Both are clinking champagne flutes together, as if in some kind of celebratory or romantic gesture. Editor’s Note: This is pure speculation but a romantic link between Gwen and this Man in Red could imply that the man is none other than Miles Warren, the Jackal. To that point, the mask he is wearing looks exactly like a Jackal. Has The Jackal given up his bizarre green costume for a more conventional animalistic design? Although, there is something Egyptian in the design, perhaps this is a brand new character, though it’ll be interesting to find out how the Lizard has known this person from before.

Dead_No_More_6-1Update 4: Today Marvel released the final piece of their “Dead No More” teaser art/poster and as suspected at the heart of this image is none other than a seemingly resurrected Doctor Octopus. There is no word on how this has happened and whether or not this Octopus is a reanimated corpse, a clone, or something else entirely. Another question that will have to be answered upon his return is whether or not his memories will find their way over from the Living Brain and into this new body. We have the completed banner ready for your desktop background at the top of the page.

The new image by Alexander Lozano reveals Spider-Man fighting what appears to be a hellish portrayal of Doc Ock’s arms, as both combatants writhe about the flames cascading from the background – while long dead cast seem to literally erupt from the fiery hellscape. The energy is beautiful but chaotic, especially in the (probably) metallic arms; each appendage is characterized thickly with rapidly snaking tendrils that are littered with sparks and flickers of the background’s bonfire.

dellotto_spider-verse-banner-fullThe realization that even more images may be on the way will remind fans of the teasers for “Spider-Verse” – another big Spider-Event that saw Marvel slowly reveal a gorgeous banner by Gabriele DellOtto. After several months of slowly granting more snippets, the final full banner was finally complete – and to this day is still an incredible fan favorite that most Spider-Talk fans would love hanging on their wall.
