The first official footage from Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” debuted at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend (we’ve got a description of the footage) and outside of revealing the cast and the villain there was not a ton of new information revealed. However, in an Entertainment Weekly interview (watch the video for the reveal) that was published shortly thereafter we got a ton of new information.

Director Jon Watts sat down with the magazine and referred to the different actors by character name, calling the group “The Breakfast Club,” a reference to the John Hughes film that this movie is reportedly going to be styled after.

Here’s all the information that we were able to learn from that interview:

Zendaya Coleman as Michelle Gonzales

Singer/actress Zendaya Coleman was the third cast member ever announced. She is well known among the younger Disney Channel crowd, with lead roles in “Shake It Up“ and “K.C. Undercover.” She also has established her career as a young singer in such singles as “Replay,” and “Something New.”

Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson

Tony Revolori has had a short but successful film career in movies such as “Dope” (2015). Our own film critic (and Spider-Talk Host), Dan Gvozden had high praise for Tony’s performance in “The Grand Budapest Hotel.”

When news of Tony Revolori being cast first hit the interwebs, speculation flew that he might be playing Flash Thompson. “Revolori will play Peter Parker’s nemesis/enemy at high school, but isn’t a super villain.” (Deadline) Now we know for a fact that he’s playing Flash.

Revolori says this about his character, “I’m [Peter Parker’s] bully and I don’t know how cool he is, but when we call cut, I’m just like, ‘Ah! You’re so cool.’”

Laura Harrier as Liz Allan

Actress Laura Harrier is best known for her role in “One Life to Live” as Destiny Evans. She was also in “4th Man Out” (an indie comedy) and “The Last Five Years” (a musical).

She follows the trend of the rest of the cast so far: much younger actresses and actors than we are accustomed to – but with an undeniable talent and spark that seems to be the driving inspiration for the film. Now we know she’s be playing Liz Allan, possibly cast so that she will mirror the character that we saw in the “Spectacular Spider-Man” television show, where her role in Peter Parker’s youth was vastly expanded.

Jacob Battalion as Ned Leeds

Jacob Battalion is another newcomer to the world of major motion pictures, having only appeared in “North Woods” prior to “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Not much is known about the young actor except that he’ll be playing Ned Leeds in the film, eventual false Hobgoblin, husband to Betty Brant, and hard-hitting investigative reporter.

Michael Barbieri as “Spider-Man’s Best Friend”

You may know Michael Barbieri from only this mention of him, as his career is relatively short. He was Tony Calvelli in “Little Men” (2016) had a brief appearance in “Killer” (2016).

Barbieri was reportedly playing an alternate version of Ganke despite the fact that he doesn’t seem quite right as a representation of the comic visual that we are used to.
