We’re reporting more casting news for the ever-expanding cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” We already know that the main antagonist of the film is set to be the Vulture, and while it’s long been assumed that Michael Keaton, who is officially attached to the movie, will be playing him, it has still not been confirmed.

Joining the cast is Bokeem Woodbine, who recently appeared in Season 2 of “Fargo” (if you haven’t watched this show, do it now!). The rumor is that he’ll be playing Shocker, a.k.a. Herman Schultz, who has been a mainstay Spidey villain since he first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #46, but has yet to find his way to the big screen… possibly until now.

Internet chatter says that he’ll be taking on the role of Phineas Mason, otherwise known as the Terrible Tinkerer, who actually predates Shocker by some time, having appeared all the way back in Amazing Spider-Man #2.

The Tinkerer, while not super-powered, is a genius in engineering of nearly superhuman levels, able to create high-tech gadgets with nothing but spare parts of household appliances. One theory is that in “Homecoming” Mason will be a former Stark employee and will help arm both Vulture and Shocker in an attempt at revenge against the Iron One. I’m sure young Master Parker will do everything he can to protect (and impress) his friend and mentor.

So, that’s one, two… three Spidey villains in one movie. The last time they did that it turned out to be… oh dear… Well, we can only hope that now that Spider-Man is safely back in the hands of Marvel Studios, they’ll handle it better. And, with Marvel’s track record so far, and their incredible treatment of the ol’ web-head in “Civil War,” should we really be worried?
