Even alternate universe the Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows will see some changes under the “Legacy” publishing initiative that Marvel has started rolling out this month. After the conclusion of writer Ryan Stegman and artist Nathan Stockman’s current arc, the story of RYV will skip eight years into the future. Not only that, but Stegman and Stockman will step down from their creative duties to make way for writer Jody Houser (Faith) and artist Nick Roche (Death’s Head).

Roche spoke with IGN briefly about what to expect from his and Houser’s Renew Your Vows. The time skip places Annie in her teen years, proving new challenges for the hero family. To give an example, Roche asks “Would Peter Parker have had the same humility and strength of character if he’d been born with powers like Annie has?” He also states that the book is about “Power and Responsibility: The Next Generation,” whether or not this is a direct reference to how “Star Trek: The Next Generation” updated the original series or just Rouche borrowing the naming convention is not determined, but he does state that the Parkers are not known for their social mobility, so do not expect to see many changes with their home life. “Even with a time jump, Pete and Fam aren’t lucky enough for THAT much to change.”

As for villains, Roche claims to have drawn six already, a number that should cause any long term Spider-Man fan’s ears to perk up. Past that, there are no other details, including if this will last until the Legacy non/super-event ends or if this is the permanent team for Renew Your Vows from here on out. That being said, it will be interesting to see how Houser and Roche will approach the idea of a teenage Spider-daughter without stepping on the toes of the very well established MC2 Spider-Girl. Houser and Roche start their run with Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #13 in November.
