Earlier this week Sony Pictures released an early look at the teaser trailer for “Amazing Spider-Man 2” that would air during the Super Bowl. What we got wasn’t just the second part of the trailer but a whole new, nearly 4-minute “Enemies Unite” trailer that hit the web shortly afterwards. You can watch the whole trailer above but be warned that it is full of spoilers for the film.
Still, the “Enemies Unite” trailer doesn’t feature all of the moments depicted in the Super Bowl teases. One specific sequence featuring Gwen falling while Spider-Man attempts to catch her is highlighted and it teases a moment that many Spider-Man fans have long speculated would occur. Watch them below:
I don’t want to get too heavily into speculation or spoilers, there is just a ton to discuss here, but I will say that this trailer, while a bit too long, does a great job of enticing me for the film. I didn’t need a reason to go before this trailer and I won’t need one afterwards, so I hope this is one of the last trailers for the film. As always, the action looks spectacular with Spider-Man swinging around in a manner that I always imagined he would. It worries me to see crowds cheering him on and his cocky attitude towards the job existing post-Uncle Ben’s death, but I wasn’t satisfied with how that played out in the first film so perhaps they are elongating his tragic origin story by incorporating the death of Gwen Stacy.
There seems to be a big emphasis on the tragedy meets comedy attitude of the first film with an even larger sense of action, which I’m excited about, even if the Aunt May humor scenes aren’t totally working with me.
What did you think of the trailers? Are you excited for the film’s pending release?
